Dear Family:
Happy Birthday to Riley!!
You should know that Riley confirmed – I was the first to wish her a
happy birthday – it was because I did it on the 3rd.
Conner’s birthday is Friday the 9th. Happy Birthday Conner!
I visited with Kelsy and the 3 boys and Kelsey’s mom last week. It was delightful seeing baby Enzo, but it was hilarious what Cooper and McKay ending up doing. Cooper headed upstairs with these big black boots. After a while he came downstairs in this get up. (I can't upload the videos) I'll try to attached to the email. Hilarious!
Of course, little brother had to do what big brother did. I’ll try to attach the short videos.
Marissa came over yesterday and she made blueberry muffins from scratch and Missy and I looked over Claire’s Barbie clothes that will go to Grandma Amy to entertain Claire when she is old enough to understand about Barbies.
I have a piano recital tonight at a Retirement home in
Beaverton. It has a social room on the 2nd
floor with a 2 step up stage and a grand piano.
I’ve had my recital’s there for several years now. Then I teach piano until June 15. Starting June 20 I will teach only on Tuesday
mornings for about 2 ½ hours. No lessons
on July 4 and July 24.
My crawl space workers were here last Friday and worked
under the house for about 6 hours. They
removed all the old shredded vapor barrier, the shredded insulation (from
rodents) disinfected the entire space, installed new wire screen at the
foundation vents and installed new vapor barrier. However they discovered a sewer line leak at
the location of the guest room toilet.
The smell remains. So I may have to replace the toilet, the sub floor
and a few tiles. Who knows? I am really hopeful that this will be the
last major thing to go wrong in my house.
So far I’ve replaced all the T-111 with cedar siding on the
north side of my house (because original building installed window flashing
backwards allowing rain water to run down inside the walls), I replaced all the
flooring (because of renter damage), replaced the roof, the water heater, the
furnace, the air conditioner, the wood fence, refrigerator, disposal,
dishwasher, oven and microwave – and now the vapor barrier in the crawl space. I’ve come to understand that when a house is
30+ years old, it’s time to replace most everything. I’ll leave remodeling the kitchen to whoever
buys the house next – whenever that is.
Every chance it get, (when my housework, piano lessons,
errands are finished) I sit on my front patio and enjoy the flowers, fresh air
and the beautiful Oregon summer. I
wintered over my geraniums. The Bacopa
between the geraniums are annuals. The
blue star creeper and the peonies come back every year. It is my quiet peaceful place. I read a book or work on my weekly letter out
there. Sometimes I just sit and do
nothing.
My next door neighbor lady, Cathy Caruso (from the Caruso
Produce in SE Portland family) brought me over a big box of fruit on
Friday. I have shared it with
Marissa/Clark and Amy/Mike and I’ve been eating lots of Kissmelon, Casaba
melon, water melon, pineapple, blueberries and raspberries…. Which reminds me -
it is just about strawberry freezer jam
time. Marissa is coming over Saturday to
learn how to make homemade bread, if the strawberries are ready, I may insert a
little freezer jam making in the process.
It’s wonderful have Marissa and Clarke here until mid
July. I had an exchange with Conner this
week about his big car project. He has
done this all by himself. What an
accomplishment!! I understand that it isn’t complete yet, but it’s getting
close. The following was prompted by
what I saw Conner had done:
This quote from
President Hinckely: “I have tremendous
confidence in the young people of this Church.
I love you. I believe in
you. I have every confidence that you
are going to do the right thing; that you are going to make a go of life; that
you are going to make a contribution to society, that you are going to live the
kind of lives that are productive and produce wonderful results……..”
This reminded me of Conner and tackling that huge car
project and teaching himself what do to and ordering all the parts and ……he is
making of go of life…. Good job Conner!!
As always I love to see the posts of your families. I have plane tickets to go to Mapleton July 20
to July 27. I am excited to go to the
parade, the pancake breakfast, fireworks in Brian/Megan’s driveway and we have
tickets to the Fiesta Days Rodeo on July 24.
I love rodeos and I haven’t gone to enough. I remember taking the kids years ago to the
St Paul Rodeo with the Francks. Then I
went to the Snake River Stampede in Nampa Idaho a few years ago when I visited
my friend Arvilla in Meridian. I have wonderful
memories of rodeos when I was a kid and Brian doesn’t “love” rodeos but he will
go. Thanks.
There is nothing like having family time. Brad has all his
family coming to Spokane July 27 through August 6. I’m trying to figure out how I can get there
for 1 day so I can meet Addie and Jude and reconnect with Emery and Cole.
Well family – I love you all. I think of you every day and pray for you
every day.
Have a fantastic week.
Love Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister and Aunt Suzanne
